NLFA News - Burr knows challenge ahead
06 Sep 2011
|
|
Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr couldn't be happier but expects his job as manager of the Blue Square Bet Premier club to get tougher.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail about his squad and starting line-up tinkering in the opening six games her said:
“I’ve got a squad of 21-22 players and whoever has come in, from the start of pre-season, has done well,” said Burr. “In the last few games, Jack Byrne has come in, Scott Phelan and Jamille Matt as well and been excellent. The hardest part is to leave players out.
“All the players want to play but the idea is to keep the squad fresh. It’s not just about 11 players these days. It’s the squad that is important.”

NLFA News - Tilson To Bolster Lincoln Squad
09 Aug 2011
|
|
Lincoln City manager Steve Tilson has revealed he will dip into the transfer market once again in a bid to bolster his injury-hit squad.
The Imps faced Blue Square Bet North side Boston United at the weekend and Tilson was unable to name a full substitutes bench due to a number of players struggling with niggling injuries.
Goalkeeper Joe Anyon missed the pre-season with an ankle injury, while full-back Tony Sinclair and winger Francis Laurent were also unavailable for selection.
Commenting on his injury-hit squad, Tilson told the Lincolnshire Echo: "I was just pleased to come through Saturday's game without any injuries, which was the most important aspect for me.
"With a week to go, you don't want a serious problem and thankfully we avoided that.
"We already had a few out in Francis Laurent, Tony Sinclair, (strikers) James Wilson and Andy Hutchinson, which meant we could only name 14 in the squad at Boston.
"Going into the start of the season, with six games in 17 days, obviously that is nowhere near enough.
"But if the budget allows me, and things are a little bit tight, I'd be looking at the defensive area.
"With Tony out it leaves us really bare and I'd be amazed if he was fit. He has not even trained which is why we need to bring in a right-back who can play at centre-back."

NLFA News - Bluebirds Clinch Quinn Loan
09 Aug 2011
|
|
Barrow have secured the services of experienced defender Adam Quinn on a three-month loan from fellow Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Darlington.
The 29-year-old represented Barrow as a trialist in Saturday's match at Colwyn Bay due to the fact that the Bluebirds were unable to complete his registration ahead of the pre-season encounter.
Quinn joined the Quakers in January from Crawley Town after spending the first half of the campaign on loan at Forest Green Rovers.
His first-team prospects have not improved this summer due to manager Mark Cooper's defensive signings and he has been allowed to join the Bluebirds in order to regain his fitness following a hernia operation earlier this summer.
Commenting on Quinn's move to Barrow, Cooper told The Northern Echo: "Quinny had a hernia operation in the summer and he's not had enough time, so we've sent him out on loan to make sure that he's match-fit if and when we need him."
